Featuring some of the greatest symbols of American freedom and liberty, the Gold American Eagle is produced with the highest levels of quality and beauty investors expect from the United States Mint. Each gold bullion coin features the full image of Lady Liberty holding an olive branch and torch, as well as the word “Liberty,” the date of issue and the original mintmark on the obverse. The reverse bears a classic image of a male bald eagle carrying an olive branch to his nested eaglets, as well as the phrases “In Gold We Trust” and “E Pluribus Unum.” The Gold American Eagle was the first modern gold bullion coin to be authorized by the US congress, and is backed and guaranteed by the United States Mint for its weight, content and purity.
Available in four convenient sizes, each Gold American Eagle is .9167 fine (22 karat) gold, with additional alloy of silver and copper to help increase stability and scratch-resistance.
The largest of the set, the one-ounce Gold American Eagle, contains exactly one troy ounce of pure, .999 fine gold, has a diameter of 32.77mm, a thickness of 2.87mm and a total weight of 1.0909 troy ounces. Each of these coins has a face value of $50, and these coins are sold by Monex in units of 10 coins.
The half-ounce coin contains exactly one-half troy ounce of pure .999 fine gold, has a diameter of 27mm, a thickness of 2.15mm, a total weight of .5454 troy ounces and features a face value of $25. These coins are available from Monex in units of 20 coins.
The quarter-ounce gold coin contains exactly one-quarter troy ounce of pure .999 fine gold, has a diameter of 22mm, a thickness of 1.78mm, a total weight of .2727 troy ounces and a face value of $10. These coins are available from Monex in units of 20 coins.
